Stuff To Do Whilst At Home

stuff to do

Social distancing doesn’t need to be anti-social. In fact, one of the positive things to come of the current situation is the amount of content being made available for people to enjoy at home and the sense of everyone pulling together to stop one another from going stir crazy!

We’ve got your social distancing social life covered, with this weekly round up of free entertainment and things you can do whilst staying at home…

MONDAY NIGHT PUB QUIZ

With pub quizzes being the nation’s favourite way to test our knowledge over a few pints, it’s no wonder the pub quiz game is still going strong despite social distancing thanks to the use of live streaming on social media and video conference calls.

Your favourite pub quiz host at Radio X, Mr Rob DJ is also joining in the fun, hosting a pub quiz every Monday night at 7.30pm. Head over to his twitter page on Monday evenings for the link to join in: @Real_RobDJ

A TUESDAY TRIP TO THE THEATRE

For those in need of a theatrical fix, The Wind in The Willows, the Musical has made their production at the London Palladium in 2017 free to stream online. It’s colourful, fun, catchy and family-friendly, so enjoy a trip to the theatre with the kids, from the comfort of your couch. We’ll leave it to you to decide whether ice-cream for the interval is considered an essential item on your shopping list!

THURSDAY LOCKDOWN & CHILL

So, it’s Thursday, you’ve binged through the entire Netflix catalogue, caught up with everything you’ve been recommended to watch because you no longer had the excuse of “I just don’t have the time to watch all 63 and a half hours of Game of Thrones”. What now?

There are some fantastic Podcast dramas, comedies and documentaries out there so here’s a few binge-worthy suggestions to discover…

Sandra - A podcast fiction series about a personal assistant, called Sandra (voiced by Kristen Wiig), who much like Alexa or Siri is designed to answer questions, assist and interact with the user. However unlike the personal assistants in our world, Sandra’s knowledge comes from a call centre of real people and the story follows what happens when someone interacting as Sandra becomes a little too emotionally involved.

#ZoologicalSociety - A podcast comedy musical that’s definitely not suitable for kids, giving an insight into the inner thoughts of a troupe of zoo animals! Performed by a cracking cast including Jason Manford & Lucy Jones. (Fun fact- We made their Spotify ad! But we’re not biased, it’s a really clever, fun listen)

FRIDAY NIGHT

Your days may feel like they are merging into one, like an extended, less relaxing version of that time between Christmas and New Years. But make sure you keep that Friday feeling by catching up and socialising with your mates over a video call.

The app ‘Houseparty’ lets you see those faces you miss and play some games such as Guess the Song, Heads Up, Trivia and Quick Draw. Download the app, invite some friends, BYOB and you’re good to go!

For some more lockdown-friendly games, head to http://playingcards.io/ which has loads of games including a recently added online version of Cards Against Humanity.
